another one for the books!

what a fun, and exhausting weekend!

Thursday evening, way passed my bedtime, i went to a Halloween dance party. it was weird. the music was "dubstep" and trance like...my only dance capabilities with this genre is a jump up and down, sway thing...it sounds scary..and it was.
but, between my sister in law and i, we rocked out.

Friday was so packed it was insane. worked, left work, went to see a friend and her new baby, precious..so precious. picked up a fire pit, cleaned my house, baked rice crispy treats, and threw a bonfire party for my sister in law. the fb event said only 15 people were coming..boy was that wrong. my house was PACKED. and everyone stayed..so very late :)
but it was fun, and Cami had a blast (mission accomplished)

I love throwing/hosting parties, but i always feel like i need a vacation afterward.

Thankfully, the next morning we (mr and I) drove to a little town about an hour from our house, for a couples retreat.
SO CHALLENGING.

there were so many good revelations, and "aHA" moments. But my favorite one, or i guess, my most convicting one i heard, was:
"being angry at your spouse is your problem not theirs.
they may be the reason you are upset, but being angry causes you to sin, and that cannot be blamed on your spouse."

i needed to hear that. my husband might hurt my feelings, or upset me...but letting those emotions take over in that situation, only makes matters worse.

There were so many other great principles that i needed to be reminded of, but that is just one for now.

great weekend, full of friends, food, and laughter and an overnight stay in a vintage hotel...perfect weekend :)

legend of the cricket..

at last..the story...

so you saw the picture of the freakishly large cricket, mac daddy, king of all crickets..
well, the night before that photo was taken...i geared up for laundry...in my creepy unfinished basement...#putshomealonebasementtoshame
Gearing up, consists of, covering all body parts, making sure no skin is exposed, hair swept back so it doesn't accidentaly graze my neck and i mistake it for cricket attack (this definitely has not happened...or perhaps it has), boots (this is vital), the thicker the better, so that i may stomp as i scream in all directions. lastly, and most importantly, i arm myself with this killer bug spray (pun intended)...now that you know what i look like, here is what i encountered...

I did my usual spray down the stairs, and watch for movement...when i see none, i creep down further and examine all dark spots on the concrete floor, when i am assured that there are no crickets in my vicinity, i quickly dash to the washer and dryer..the whole time i'm sorting, folding, waiting, i am constantly watching behind me for any activity...before dashing back upstairs...sometimes i've dashed too quickly and lost items of clothing to the slats in the stairs..and lets be honest..i am not going under the stairs to retrieve said clothing...that is where the crickets hatch their schemes, and their eggs..ewwwww. i'm sure of it.

anyway, this was my routine monday night, except...as i launched into full sprint back to the stairs...there he stood.....the largest, most disgusting, and i'm sure the most hungry for my jugular cricket...EVER! he was between me and the stairs...what do i do???? where is my bug spray??? i had accidentally left it at the dryer!..i ran back and grabbed and crept back up to the stairs..and it was gone...so i sprayed until i'm sure fumes were at their all time most hazardous level..i saw him! he came to taunt me as i stood on the stairs, so i drenched him some more...he jumped, frightfully fast, into some boxes...i waited...and tried to make sure he was dead...meanwhile, husband was standing at the top of the stairs, looking slightly more concerned than he should, (he's all, they are more afraid of you..yada yada), i could tell he wasn't concerned for the cricket..but more for me...whatevs.

anyway, longest post ev.
i left my house tuesday morning for work, as i was locking the door...there i saw it....OMG he was back! and lets just say, if i hadn't recently emptied my bladder, i would have right THERE!
his antenna's were waiving at me...taunting me...well played cricket...well played.

my husband once said, "babe, you gotta get over this fear of these crickets, this house is your dominion, you are the authority here..i responded, oh i know, i have authority of my house, but the crickets, they can have the basement"

Daddy cricket...is still alive, or his wifey is seeking revenge, either way, it's time to get some stronger bug spray.

Just in case you need refreshing for your memory...i definitely didn't...it's ingrained in my brain...can't escape this memory!

loving and loathing tuesday

LOVING:
my pants i got from american eagle..which, if you know me, you know that i NEVER shop at american eagle. i'm about as far from AE style as they come..but i did marry mr ae. seriously.
they are comfy, and feel better than just leggings, and look great with brown boots...yep. i mix these..and you should too, where there is freedom there is liberty..
these are the pants

and this: stop what you are doing. leanne, get off pinterest and go to the store, and get these:

oh. so. incredible.

also, loving the fact that my friend nina (my wedding photographer), has asked me to be her wardrobe consultant for an upcoming shoot she has :)
you may not know this, but being a personal shopper is a lifetime dream. so much fun!

LOATHING:

my bright red eye. allergies? contagious infection? contact issues? who knows..but it isn't bothering me, just everyone around me..."what's wrong with your eye?"....

hurricane rina: dear rina, how bad do you plan on being? a little rain? or will the resort i'm going to in 2 weeks be washed away? #travelagentissues

oh what else you ask?
i am so totally LOATHING this:

i am devoting an entire blog post to this guy in a few.....skin is crawling.

glowing is an understatement

thursday thoughts

i just bought this skirt i have been eying. i'm obsessed already.

i made beef stew this morning. perfect day for it. but i am anxious about leaving a crock pot on all day while at work.

i have decided that retail therapy is the best thing ever. i went shopping last night to get a great gift for a perfect friend her name is cara dee :) and of course i picked up that skirt too..how could i not..it was RIGHT THERE. my friend was with me, and she said she read in an article that you should never shop with friends......wha??? that is absurd! the reasoning was; they talk you into buying things you don't need. duh! that's the point!

my new fav show is parenthood. oh my tear ducts. seriously. i cry start to finish.

2 weeks, 5 days, and 21 hrs till vacation. but who is counting? oh i just cannot wait. i get my own butler...who brings us breakfast in bed, and irons are clothes. #spoiled

i went into a furniture store, they had closed,#iknowaguy, but the ladies were totally making every effort to help me with my room..ya know the infamous unfinished one...but it was so overwhelming. i just need to make decisions #decisionsareboring

(i have recently been loving this whole hash tag thing, but i'm pretty sure i use it inappropriately, like joey on friends with " "...you must watch that episode.

ok, i must get back to work..#pretendworking

smokies

(how hilarious is this? oh dad...)
the entire fam went to the smokies last weekend.

It was seriously so fun!
and so beautiful!

my only complaint: gatlinburg is somewhere in between BFE and "you gotta purdy mouth". red neck heaven.

The outlets were great though! Scored some great finds! Mr did as well, which is rare, he never shops.

it was just a great family time too. the sisters and mom all spent the day together one day, and shopped and laughed, and ate..oh nothing healthy in the least. we blamed it all on my sister and baby g.

speaking of babies, i can finally announce on here that 3 of my beautiful loves are pregnant!
aren't they beautiful?

due dates from l-r: March11, Feb10, Jan15..holy mols i'm gonna go broke!

mustard

for a few years now, i've been obsessed with yellow. weird that you didn't know that...

one of my favorite yellow hue, is mustard yellow. oh i love. but i only wear it usually in the fall/winter seasons..it just seems to be more appropo.

but recently i've been worried that combining said mustard yellow with my bright red hair, would create a ronald mcdonald kinda look. ew.

so i did some researching, and apparently, i'm not the only one who has had that same fear!

Check out the photos that prove it's ok :)
